Our Mission: helping the people of the eastern Tibetan plateau

Our Legacy:
  • Sponsorship of 170 children to complete middle school, high school, and/or college
  • Training of 79 village midwives of whom 45 were still working in the health care profession in 2009 resulting in 412 infant deaths prevented thru 2009
  • Vocational training for 99 people in construction trades resulting in substantial and documented increased employment opportunities and income
  • Distribution of 1,090 wheelchairs to needy disabled people
  • Conservation and repair of three historic structures; cleaning and conservation of three sets of historic Buddhist wall paintings
  • Development of a writing system and elementary textbook for the Minyak language and training for eight primary school teachers in how to use the textbook
  • Publication or purchase of hearly 60,000 Tibetan language children's books for distribution to rural schools
  • Renovation of dilapidated teacher quarters at eight schools
  • Construction of a stone arch bridge at Egu township to support economic recovery after a devastating earthquake
  • Relief and assistance to victims of the Sichuan and Yushu earthquakes;
  • Grants and assistance to rural schools and health clinics
  • Support for handicraft business development
  • Construction of 13 greenhouses for rural schools
